Alder & Steel concept — barber at work at his chair
Concept photography direction: texture and tools in use—no staged scissors, no stock symmetry.
01ASSUMED BUSINESS CHALLENGE

Choosing a barber is an act of trust—the cut is on your head for weeks. This concept assumes a common situation: prices that only exist on a chalkboard, a team nobody is introduced to, and booking that means a message sent into silence.

The assumed brief: state services and prices with total clarity, introduce the barbers properly, and make one booking route impossible to miss.

02VISITOR QUESTIONS
Q1How much is a cut, exactly?
Q2Who will be cutting my hair?
Q3Can I get an appointment this week?
Q4Where is the shop, and when is it open?

05KEY DESIGN DECISIONS
01

The price list is the centrepiece

A typographic price list designed the way the shop talks: direct, complete, nothing hidden behind “from”.

02

The team introduced by name

Barbers photographed at work at their own chairs, with first names and specialities—trust built before arrival.

03

One booking route

A single persistent Book action on every page—no competing forms, DMs and phone numbers to choose between.

04

Tactile, high-contrast surfaces

A darker palette and strong type that hold up on a phone screen in daylight, matching the shop’s materials.
